Too much milk?

bonjourbonjour · 07/03/2020 16:39

My milk has come in and I have a huge supply. My 4 day old just cant empty them enough. They go from rocks before a feed to softer rocks after but they are still so so full...

Do I express after to relieve? But then wont the milk come even stronger after?

My nipples are so sore and Im finding this really painful and overwhelming😔
Any advice greatly received 🙏🏻

It’ll settle itself once supply and demand established. You could express off a bit to relieve before each feed but I wouldn’t do it much as you’ll make more. It’s early days so I’d let your body sort itself.

The full boobs feeling goes away eventually!

I'd express a bit (infact that's exactly what I did - DS now 3 weeks old). Your boobs do create on supply and demand but that first gush of milk is so uncomfortable! My son was really struggling under the waterfall of milk! I expressed a bit off and stored it in the freezer. Hasn't affected my supply, once my boobs settled down i just carried on feeding as normal.

Oh and definitely apply Lanisoh cream as often as possible.

If its any consolation, 2 weeks in everything has settled much better.. nipples and boob soreness. Good luck!
