4mo won’t feed in mornings- is this normal?!

Long time lurker but have signed up to ask for some advice on my 4mo DS’ feeding pattern please. He’s my first so I have no idea whether this is okay...

FF since 8 weeks. Averages 5 feeds per day, I offer 210ml but he usually finishes about 180-200ml. Tends to go around 4 hours between feeds in the day, fed responsively but he’s quite consistent in his time between daytime feeds.

He’s recently dropped a feed and started lasting for a 7-8hour block of time between feeds at night, but rather than dropping his night feed and going from 11ish through to morning (the dream!!), he’s dropped his early morning feed so still wakes up at 3-4am but then doesn’t get hungry again until late morning. He’ll then feed at approx 3pm, 7pm, 11pm and 3am for the rest of the day.

He wakes up for the day at around 7am but is completely disinterested in feeding until about 11am after his first nap (I’ve tried offering him a bottle when he wakes up and at various times in the mornings on different days with no luck- he’ll clamp his mouth shut, turn his head away etc, basically not having any of it!) This morning I tried to feed him at 8am because he’d only taken 30ml of his night feed, thinking he’d be hungry, but he still wouldn’t touch it and isn’t showing any signs of being hungry even now even though he hasn’t had a full feed since 11 last night.

I suppose my question is is this feeding pattern ok or should I be trying to shift it? And if so, how? I don’t want to over-schedule him or push him to sleep through the night before he’s ready (I know I’m lucky that he only wakes once at his age!), it’s more that it just doesn’t feel right to me that he’ll go all morning without feeding when he’s awake.

Sorry for the ramble! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Unfortunately I think it's pretty normal, as long as he's getting 2.5 floz per pound in weight per day, I'd try not to worry and just take his lead for now Smile

Thank you, he’s definitely getting enough over a day so that’s good to know!

My baby girl also feeds every 4 or 5 hours. It sounds normal to be honest. I don't think you should be worried.
