someone on another forum said their cousin is a paediatrician that said theer aren't any. I can't belive they said it and would love some links to disprove this. They also said that babies don't need food until they had teeth so they weaned at 5 months . Also they suggest anaemia in bf babies past this age so formula is better! I was typing a big reply to them and bluescreened to cut it short but it's madness!

Have you come across this website: www.kellymom.com/? They have lots of info on breastfeeding, including benefits of extended BF, iron levels, weaning, etc...

i had a similar attitude from chief gynacologist at my hosp - who thought it was ludicrous past 6 months ! can't believe peoples attitudes/

agree, with ref to kellymom, it's brill and has lots of info.

don't need food until they have teeth?? Blimey if I'd have believed that one DS1 and 2 wouldn't have had any food until they were nearly 1yr old .

And even DH, who while not "anti" BF, but happy to suggest FF'ing DS3 exclusively knew that the benefits were longer than 6 weeks!

Don't think ds would have been too chuffed if I'd started shovelling baby rice down his throat at 12 weeks (although my aunt did suggest it funnily enough )
