Hi

I have had various tummy bugs while breastfeeding my 2 kids and no problems until now. But after an acute bug or maybe it was food poisoning, lasting about 24 hours, I have had virtually no milk for two days. I am trying to keep fluids up.

DS2 is 7.5 months and luckily will take formula but is not that happy. Any advice? I don't want to stop bf right now, but I don't want him chewing on the nipple either as it makes me very sore!

Keep going. It's amazing what your body can do. You probably did get a bit dehydrated, but you can reinstate the milk production, even at this stage. When my dd was 8.5m she had a bout of gastroenteritis and had nothing but bm for 3 days, and took over a week to get back to eating. She just wanted boob every couple of hours like a newborn. To my astonishment (and delight) I was able to satisfy her, and I could feel that I had more milk within a couple of days, even though it wasn't as distinct a sensation as it is in the early weeks of bfing. I was also very thirsty again, just as I had been in the early months. Anyway, drink plenty and feed, you will make milk.
