I don't think there is a previous thread about this. And apologies if anyone thinks its a bit trivial, some of us are hooked on facebook as well as mumsnet

Just discovered a group on Facebook called Hey Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene!

Apparently Facebook are removing all breastfeeding pics and giving people warnings.

NOT GOOD!

That's crappy.

For god's sake why? I really can't see why they need to do that?

Chirpygirl · 27/08/2007 20:36

I joined that group and added my pic about 3 weeks ago, and it's already 20 pages in!

I haven't had a warning as I think the sheer volume of pics means facebook have given up, so go and post a pic now!

(But don't look unless you are SURE you won't feel broody as there are some gorgeous pics there!)

robinredbreast · 27/08/2007 20:46

what the hell? there actually banning bf photos ? how can they do that
bt thats gonna do the uks bf rates a lot of good

puffylovett · 27/08/2007 20:48

don't they know the regulations about breast feeding in public ??? surely it's no different LOL

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/08/2007 20:48

why on earth would you want to look at pictures of breastfeeding ? I don't understand....

elkiedee · 27/08/2007 23:27

There's lovely pics of my cousin's girlfriend bfing their new baby on his sister's profile.

elkiedee · 27/08/2007 23:29

I should add, as an album of pics of new baby posted by a proud auntie, they're not the only pics there but they're part of a set of great photos of an important experience.

Twinklemegan · 27/08/2007 23:29

That's outrageous.

Mind you, nothing on earth would make me post the one bf pic that I have. That would truly give people nightmares (being 10 mins after a 3 hour pushing marathon)

cookiesandcream · 27/08/2007 23:43

I have bf pics and noone has contacted me!

JodieG1 · 27/08/2007 23:59

I wonder if they're removing all the photos of cleavage shots and women with boobs hanging out too if not then there might be a case there.

Gingerbear · 28/08/2007 00:14

More dross from the anti-children brigade - this time on facebook! WTF????

Twinklemegan · 28/08/2007 00:19

Blimey - what is she on?

Gingerbear · 28/08/2007 00:24

I know - if you don't want children, fine, but don't shove it down our throats!
Go and keep 1000 cats on a farm in Kentucky with your shrivelled up tits.

elkiedee · 28/08/2007 00:27

She can't even spell "discreetly" correctly - "discretely" means something different - yes, I know I'm pedantic!

largeginandtonic · 28/08/2007 00:30

That is quite possibly the most horrendous thing i have ever read. I really hope that person is not serious, if they are then i am very, very

Twinklemegan · 28/08/2007 00:31

I'm loving that we have nothing else to do all day so we might as well pump. And we can obviously make our newborn wait until it's convenient to feed him/her.

And I didn't ever feed in public, because it was too blardy difficult. But I liked knowing I could if I could (IYSWIM).

Oh ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

Tinker · 28/08/2007 00:34

Oh god, it's so tempting to troll on that link. Breeders? Hmm, some ishoos there methinks

FlameBatfink · 28/08/2007 00:54

I think I have a pic of DS on there feeding

FlameBatfink · 28/08/2007 00:59

there he is!

Twinklemegan · 28/08/2007 01:03

Awww, gorgeous (didn't realise you were Flamesparrow).

I just can't get into Facebook. In fact I've just removed a load of stuff off my profile because I realised I don't want old school friends to know too much about me.

FlameBatfink · 28/08/2007 01:08

Lol, I have settled into Batfink nicely

I decided that I am far too easily findable anyway due to me sharing any information with everyone , so it doesn't really bother me how much is on there!!

tiktok · 28/08/2007 08:29

I suspect Facebook is actually not removing pics of people bf - just my instinct for myth, here, and common sense.

The anti-public bf is clearly US-based, and some of the arguments and the text remind me of a spoof website I found a few years ago.

I would suggest people don't comment on it - that's to take it seriously and it doesn't deserve that!

Nbg · 28/08/2007 08:34

Does that mean they are taking the photos off of the women who use facebook as a shag fest site and post photos of themselves with their chests out?
