Gripe water?

Ok long story short MIL insists I give DS (11 weeks) gripe water every day a few times a day. I get that it helps baby pass gas but she also seems to think it makes baby poo and stops baby vomiting (which I've been told is perfectly normal anyway). I feel as though it makes baby constantly fart away! Baby so far hasn't had issues with pooing anyway but she seems to think he HAS to go everyday which he doesn't. He hasn't shown any signs of being in pain when he doesn't poo and has a massive explosive one the next day (I know TMI). AIBU to tell her this? She's very old fashioned and doesn't take me as a mother seriously! He's not even my first but I'm always pushed to side with my kids and DH tries to help but he doesn't have a clue what he's on about either!

If he doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable then I wouldn’t say he NEEDS it. I found it helped a bit with gas, but ineffective against colic, and didn’t stop projectile vomiting (in my experience!). Your baby, your rules, tell her what you’re doing and she can lump it - or if it’s not worth the aggro just tell her you’re doing what she suggests to get her off your back! May set an annoying precedent though...

@Houseinafield it's not worth the aggro half the time. Sadly we live together so she would notice if I haven't give it! I constantly hear 'you haven't given gripe water today' blah blah and apparently me forgetting is a bad excuse and I should see a doctor for it! She's a lovely lady don't get me wrong, she's just stuck in her old ways - I'm early 20's and she's mid 60's so it says it all.

You baby sounds fine! Doesnt sound like he needs it at all.
Gripe water actually used to make my baby puke! Agree its good for trapped wind but it doesnt sound like he is in pain.
Could you maybe say you tried it and it made him puke so you stopped? (Maybe say it happened in the night so she wouldnt know)
Or if not just tell her no thank you i dont want to do that.
A baby doesnt have to poop every day!
