How to stop breastfeeding!?

Hi,

My baby is 8 months old and has been EB since birth. I am wanting to stop breastfeeding soon but feel like it's going to be hard to do as she hasn't ever taken to a dummy so I am her only comfort. She is eating breakfast and dinner at the moment, sometimes finishes it all sometimes isn't bothered but she will still always want milk not long afterwards. She also wants it to fall asleep with.
I have tried her with formula many times and she just pulls a funny face and spits it out.. have tried different bottles/milk etc and shes the same with it all.

Any advice!?

I'd pick one feed a day and swap that one. If you have a partner. Get them to do that feed, say the first one in the morning and make yourself unavailable either by having a shower and getting ready for the day or just simply by going out for a walk/run/buy milk.

It doesn't gave to be the first feed, it could be the lunchtime one or the bedtime one. Drop the one that suits you best.

At 8 months you can move her onto solids 3 times a day, if you want to which may reduce her need for milk. Have a read of this from the Caroline Walker Trust.

It might be worth talking this through with an experienced BFC too. Have you got the BFing Helpline numbers?

The only way for her to accept an alternative is to keep trying! Basically before every feed. At eight months you can try a cup with a spout or sippy cup, rather than a standard teat. I had success getting mine to accept a cup if i started with a small amount of water instead of milk.
