Have been put on combined pill as the minipill was causing problems with bleeding etc.

I have been on combi pill for 2 months but I am having (belated I know) concerns about hormones and breastfeeding. My dd has shown no signs of wanting to stop recently - and she has been waking a lot during the night in the past few weeks - wanting to feed more often. \could this be down to the pill?

I never had to deal with this issue with ds as he was 11m when dd was conceived. Am strangly reluctant to discuss this with gp - as he was very funny about me still breastfeeding when he prescribed the pill - going on about it being comfort feeding only whatever - anyway is anyone clued up on the alternatives - I have been thinking about a cap? Coil? Something that I can put in and forget about iykwim - would be nice

have you noticed any change in your milk, production? I thought the combined pill could stop you making milk?

I am wonderig about that as dd has been fussing and feeding more. I was given the impression that it wasn't considered an issue for ext feeders but clearly it is.

I am going to come back to this a bit later as domestic duties have to be met in the bigmouth house... but thank you for replying Belgo.

I was advised to go on the mini-pill while bf and not the combined pill - can't remember the reasons though, sorry.

If you do a search on here there is a lot of discussion about the coil - some love it, others have problems with it.

at the gp's comment about comfort feeding... not surprised you don't feel like being open with him...

yes it's awful that a GP gives you his opinions on bfing rather then objective advice.

The extra waking and feeding could be as a resullt of teething. My dd (18 months) always likes extra feeds when she's got teeth on their way up.

Can't help with the contraception I'm afraid - haven't used any for 6.5 yrs!!

I will do a search on the coil thank you doggiesayswoof - I have never been given any info on alternatives to pill by doctors. You honestly would think there aren't any, very poor - maybe a practice nurse would be more helpful?
