B/f and fibroid op

I need to have my fibroids removed and a d&c; this will be done under general anaesthetic, in and out the same day.

I don't want to give up b/f, and though dd does not take a bottle I'm sure she will get through the middle of the day on solids alone, with water available. If I b/f her at about 5am, and then again as soon as I'm home, we should get by with no major danger to my supply.

But am I fooling myself? Will I be up to feeding her as soon as I get home, and probably several times in the night if she wants it, and will the general anaesthetic affect her?

Does anyone have any experience of this sort of op while b/f? She is 5m now, and will be 6m when I go in. I really can't put it off much longer because the heavy periods and pain are really unbearable.

Will you have started her on solids by the time you go? Every baby is different of course, but my son would probably have been fine with a feed just before I left, some solids and water while I was away and a feed when we were reunited.

It might also be worth taking a pump with you to relieve the pressure should you get very full. Just in case you are there longer than you expected.
