Really painful since giving up breastfeeding

Has anyone else experienced this? I stopped b/feeding dd about 10 days ago - she's nearly 14 months, and was down to one morning feed a day. But now my breasts, and particularly my nipples are really painful! Has anyone got any ideas about why this should be, or what I could do to help?

Thrush?

I gave up breastfeeding due to pain, Dr's said it wasn't thrush, but after a couple more month's of pain and tenederness, I treated myself with caneston cream twice daily for 2 1/2 weeks and hey presto, no more pain - even if you're not sure it's worth a try.

I wondered about that - but am confused as to why I would get it after stopping feeding - any ideas? Thanks for the responses aloha and vkone!

Just wanted to bump this one last time to see if anyone else had any ideas about this, or experience of it. Thanks!
