Really painful since giving up breastfeeding

Has anyone else experienced this? I stopped b/feeding dd about 10 days ago - she's nearly 14 months, and was down to one morning feed a day. But now my breasts, and particularly my nipples are really painful! Has anyone got any ideas about why this should be, or what I could do to help?

I gave up breastfeeding due to pain, Dr's said it wasn't thrush, but after a couple more month's of pain and tenederness, I treated myself with caneston cream twice daily for 2 1/2 weeks and hey presto, no more pain - even if you're not sure it's worth a try.

I wondered about that - but am confused as to why I would get it after stopping feeding - any ideas? Thanks for the responses aloha and vkone!
