Improving shallow latch

First time breastfeeder as DC1 was too unwell to feed when born. Have a 2 week old, feeding has been going okay-ish. First few days my nipples were a bit sore and cracked, I seemed to get over that, but I've come to conclusion that she has a shallow latch as feeding the last few days has varied from bearable to excruciating. Despite reading various advice re deeper latch I'm struggling to improve this, she seems to get quite frustrated and doesn't seem to open her mouth like a baby bird like the advice suggests! No tongue/lip tie issues.

I've also been suffering periodically over the last week with a bit of engorgement, so wondered if this was adding to her frustration attempting to latch. In the last 48 hours she has also been sick during or after about 80% of her feeds no matter how small (though not after a bottle this morning). Could a poor latch/fast let down be causing this? Any further advice on how to improve latch?

Maybe try positioning her differently to get a good mouthful of breast. Be careful with engorgement as it can be quite painful some people swear my hand expressing to relief this I could never get used to that so bought a breast pump!do you have a health visiting clinic near you where you get baby weighed?not sure what's available in your area but most places have a breast feeding specialist which will be able to assist as they can see what you and baby are doing to help ease things for you both Hope this helps Good Luck xx
