dh thinks i should stop b'fing our 13 month old because....

she still co-sleeps, will not go in her cot at all. and she doesn't like to be parted from me in the evenings. dh thinks she uses my boobs for comfort too much. but dd is not ready to wean yet and neither am i.

do you have any helpful tips top get round this...

I'm still feeding a 2.5 year old and she has not slept in my bed for a year and a half

can i ask, did you have to do controlled crying to get her to sleep on her own, or is there another way. i hate to see her cry. and at night seems to require a lot more comfort from my boobs then during the day.

I bf'd to sleep for a while then did controlled crying if she woke up but it only took a few days. we were not co sleeping but she did sleep right next to my bed.
Am still bf at 16 mo (just morning and bedtime)and neither of us ready to stop either

I did do controlled crying

but by that I don't mean I left her to sob uncontrollably which is what some people on here think

we went in and comforted her every 5 mins just didn't pick her up

it took a few nights but we all sleep better because of it

Co-sleeping and b/feeding are two separate things. You can give up b/f and still have problems with co-sleeping and vice versa.

It sounds like it's the sleep that's the problem. We used pick up put down to not much effect and then did a modified version of CC which worked really well. You have to commit to it though as it can take a few days and can be quite hard.

oh dear I went through similar when DS was the same age - see my thread on restarting the argument started last night - so I feel your pain. I used to feed DS to sleep and then put him in the cot so our situations are a bit different. I did controlled crying to an extent but never for more than 15 minutes - mind you that was usually enough.

having said all this DS has been weaned for about a year now - he is 2.5 - and still comes into our bed regularly for periods of the night - just seems an easier way to get him back to sleep. A quick cuddle usually works when he is staying at the childminder though.

hope you and your dh can find a way round this that makes all three of you happy.
