I know you don't know my DD but can you tell me what these cues might mean?

When feeding DD sometimes she pulls off, but I know from experience that it doesn't always mean she is done so I try and put her back on again but when I do she shakes her head from side to side though still opens her mouth to latch on. She also sometimes shakes her head and/or pulls away with my nipple in her mouth (ouch!). I can't decipher whether these mean she is done, as often I'll put her down and 20 mins later she will want more! She is 6 weeks btw. Any experience with these cues anyone?

Mine did this! I would put them back in their pram. If they cried, then they did want a feed and would come back, latch on and eat. Not sure of the age though. HTH.

Ooh, and just to add, recently she has started occasionally making a high pitched screech, short and sharp while she is feeding, sounds like she is really upset about something, but it's only fleeting. Can't tell why she does it...

just my opinion - i think she is finished feeding but likes it, and is playing!

probably old enough to play with something for a short while, say under a play arch or go out in pram to look at things?

Could it be too much or too little milk?? Sometimes my ds pulls off if my let down is fast, but is still hungry, just trying to manage the flow. But he also squeaks if I put him on the wrong side/empty boob when he's really hungry, because he's used to a fast flow satisfying him iyswim!?

Also, high pitched scream usually means pain. Could it be wind or tummy ache when feeding? Taking in air?

Could well be wind. DS does this too and once he's burped he has room for more and so less of the return trips soon after.

wind, had enough but enjoying it. Working on a poo happy? Who knows. Prime growth spurt age too.
