Illness and supply

Really struggling today as was super ill yesterday and only managed to pump twice (I combo feed) and obviously the next day my supply has seriously dropped. I have also been ill today but managed to get four pumps in. I'm so scared my milk will dry up. I'm really hoping I will be able to pump more tomorrow and feel better. Has anyone else been in this situation and their milk recovered? If so what did you do?

I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times now and each time it’s recovered with just a bit of increased feeding/pumping once I’m on the mend.

I just kept telling myself that if there are women out there who can relactate after stopping for a couple of weeks then a couple of days of fewer feeds should be recoverable from!

I also made sure I ate lots of oats and drank fenugreek tea as they’re both galactagogues that should help you produce more milk. I also tried brewer’s yeast but only once as it was disgusting! I’m not really sure they had any effect but they helped me feel like I was doing something proactive!

Yeah illness itself makes your supply dip and it usually recovers quite easily once you are on the mend. Just try to feed/pump as much as you usually do and you can add a few extra sessions if it feels possible. Hope you feel better soon Flowers
