Is breastfeeding difficult/impossible with saggy boobies?

Ok so they're not on my lap or anything but my boobs are definitely going south for the winter. They aren't huge, just D cup, so can anyone advise me on whether I might encounter problems trying to breastfeed?

I have embarassing visions of the midwives in hospital saying "sorry love, can't bf with spaniels ears like yours!"

Well, mine are as saggy as they go and I think it gives me an advantage. I can lie down, on my side, reading a book while my baby can stretch my huge and saggy boobs to his own comfortable spot. Really, it is an advantage. You'll be able to do all sorts of amazing poses!

You may need to adjust the position you use from the classic cradle hold. The rugby ball is meant to be good but I could not manage that at first so I fed DD on a pillow on my knee. This left my hands free to support my breats while she fed. Now she will feed however, I wouldn't be suprised if when she walks she feeds stood up! (she is 10m)

Oh, and another thing, he can lie across my lap and feed. I don't have to hold him up to my boob. I don't even have to bend my back! Saggy boobs are really the way forward...

Yes, I made good use of the pillow as well in the early days. It does get much, much easier when they are older. My son is 9 months old and pulls me into all sorts of positions to feed. He sorts himself out really.

My boobs are HUGE and I breastfed for 14 mths - go for the rugby ball hold and the pillow on your lap - I found those V-shaped ones great. Only problem is i did need both hands - one to hold baby and one to support my boob so as not to suffocate him!

I was 34 when I had ds and an F cup so definitely not pert. Fed him for 7 months - hope that's reassuring. B/f counsellor was big on pillows but I gather current advice is not to use them - think it's because you need to develop a position that fits you and baby and not rely on being able to find a pillow.

No - makes it easier IMO. Mine were 32F pre-kids, 36M when bf and back to 32FF now. I bf both my kids until about 11 months. Once bf was established, I could prop them up on a pillow and feed with both hands free. I could also feed with me and the baby lying flat on the bed on our sides facing each other.

The only problem you will find is that if you think your boobs are saggy now, wait until after you've been through the whole pregnancy/bf thing. Mine are practically in my lap nowadays. Thank God for Bravissimo

I haven't even been wearing a bra when I'm in the house for the last 3 or 4 months so I've probably brought it on myself.

They really are going to be in my lap aren't they? I'll be able to roll them up and stick them in my bra afterwards.

Pregnancy causes droopy boops....it's a biological thing as it makes it easier for the baby to self latch onto the nipple if its pointing down......if we were supposed to have pert boobs after birth then babies would have to be born with the ability to levitate above them to get to the nipple rather than a stepping reflex to crawl up mums torso to reach the nipple

Seriously though, don't worry about it too much - women have been bfing with every conceivable breast shape/size for thousands of years - the baby won't care & won't be expecting a certain type - he/she will just use what's available!

edam- think it's cos a pillow can raise the baby up too high, resulting in sore nips. especially with generously endowed ladies!
