I had a very light one when dd was anout 10 months.

libb · 10/09/2004 22:39

As you know I had a proper one last week - pretty much to the year that DS was conceived. Very efficient of me but really annoying!

pixiefish · 10/09/2004 22:39

mine started when dd was 12 weeks- i thought the same- that i'd be left alone as long as i bf. sadly not always so

fuzzywuzzy · 10/09/2004 22:42

I had one as soon as the after birth stopped and then nothing for 6 blissfull months, then it was business as usual... All remedied now as am up the pole again...

jamiesam · 10/09/2004 22:44

Think it may partly depend on how frequently you breastfeed. i.e. the sooner they sleep through, the sooner your periods start again - true for me (and my 2 ds very slow to sleep through - so some advantage to all that broken sleep...

GeorginaA · 10/09/2004 22:46

Don't know, Twiglett

I had the Mirena put in 2 months ago so had a fair amount of bleeding but have had only the occasional spotting for the last month... keep wondering if I'm going to have another bleed or if the Mirena + bf will mean I won't get any.

Horribly hormonal so maybe I am due one.

As you say, it's not fair, is it?!

libb · 10/09/2004 22:46

I'd rather have the sleep . . .

Portree · 10/09/2004 22:59

Mine came back when ds was 8 months and by then he had been sleeping for 12 hours stretches for 2 months. I thought for months that they were starting again and had cyclical cramping and minor ovulation type pains then nothing would happen. Felt like my body was trying to ovulate but couldn't quite make it. Then the first one came completely without warning, no cramps or anything. The second one arrived 29 days later. Fairly light and not painful but the most hellish PMT. I'm sure I never had PMT like it pre-pg.

aelita · 11/09/2004 18:55

Hmmm...maybe I'm due for my first one then! DS has just started to sleep 10-12 hour stretches and I'm suddenly screaming at bus-drivers, people in checkout queues, husband...

jane313 · 11/09/2004 19:00

Mine came back normally at 6 months but I had literally forgotten what they were. I thought oh my god I must be having a haemorrage or something, it took me a good few minutes to realise what it was. They have become much less painful thought.

A freind said she has what she felt like a month long period, lots of cramping.

kiwicath · 11/09/2004 19:06

Still bfing as well, solids started at 6 months. Mine came back with normal gusto on my sons 8 month birthday. Even feeling ovulating pangs bang on 14th day - here we go again .

earlygirl · 11/09/2004 19:08

me- came back at 8 months then not at 9 got pg again at about 10 months

snagemom · 11/09/2004 22:50

Everyone is different and also depends on what type of birth control is selected (depo or pill or any)! I'm still currently bfing dd (18mos) and I've not had a period since January! However, I had my 1st period when dd was 3mos which lasted for 3weeks - but then went on depo to control periods; however; again back to the guessing. Some women experience normal periods while on depo and others experience none at all. It took around 6mos for my body to figure out which route it was going to take (period or no period) & fortunately it chose no period :O!!!Trying to guess when you may have a period is like trying to guess the winning lottery numbers. To be on the safe side - carry something in your diaper bag :-)

Just remember if will eventually come back so enjoy not having it & don't worry to much about it! As long as you are prepared you'll be fine :-)

Hope that Helps!

susanmt · 12/09/2004 03:43

With dd1 I had my first at 10 weeks
With ds had none as I had a mirena coil in at 8 weeks - it fell out but I got pg again before I had a period!!!
Dd2 at 12 weeks

All my kids were exclusively bf when it came back - Bggr!!!

It depends on your body fat a lot. fat can be used by your body to produce oestogen, so fat chicks like me get their periods back sooner!!

kbaby · 12/09/2004 15:25

I had my first when DD was 14 weeks 5 days old. My friend whose dd was born a day before mine had her period a day before me{how spooky} Midwife did say to me that I may not get another now though until finished bfeeding.
