I think I've finally decided what to do.....

with the BF/FF business. Now I've had a couple of weeks to think about it on "my terms" rather than feeling it's being "forced" on me...I'm going to keep giving DS3 his early morning breastfeed and expressing morning and evening until my supply can't cope and then move him across to FF. I've got lots of EBM in the freezer so I'll be able to give him a bottle of EBM a day for a few weeks just to make my conscience feel better .

Of course I may yet change my mind and I could be on here in a few days time telling you that I've had DS3 at the breast almost constantly to get the supply back up again /

sorry i never got back to you over the shells - i went away and forgot i'm sorry

did you still want some if i can find them?

fannyannie · 10/07/2007 14:29

thanks katz.........I'm not sure if I replied to you email either - I'm not really "leaking" enough to warrant using them now - but thanks very much for the offer

Isn't expressing a PIA? Why not feed 3 times?

fannyannie · 10/07/2007 17:21

expressing 4-5oz takes about half the time it does for DS3 to BF - he likes to take his sweet time - particularly on one side and then falls asleep still latched on and then I can't put him down to sleep without him waking up. So if you include the sitting down waiting until he wakes up again in with the feed itself we can be talking about anything from 1-3hrs .

Also - and this will sound terrible I know - but I'm not really enjoying the BF like I did with DS1 - and the times he feeds most (later afternoon/early evening) are when I'm at home on my own with all 3 DS's and I've not been able to give them the time and attention they need.....with DS2 starting nursery (in the morning) in September I want to be able to at least partially share the late afternoon and early bedtime with all of them.

Thanks for answering. Just wondered really. You may find as he gets bigger he will get more efficient at feeding and less sleepy. Glad you are finding a solution that suits you both.

Get a good breast pump.

Glad you are happy with your decision, FA!
