My little baby is 12 days old and is a great little feeder, and generally very placid and happy- so far....

Last night I had a fair few chocolates (roses to be precise). She often has a feeding frenzy period between 7 and 12 ish when she is constamtly wanting more feeds. But last night was insane, she wouldnt settle, wanted more and more, but then often couldnt seem to feed when i put her on the breast, she was shaking her head from side to side when i tried to get her to latch, and her eyes had a wild look to them! She settled eventually and was fine all night, just regularish 3-4 hr feeds. she was fine today too until about 2 hours ago when having missed lunch, and being a greedy guts i started on the roses again whilst she was actually feeding, The whole thing started again, grizzling, constantly wanting to be on the boob, doing bugger all or seeming unable to co-ordinate herself when on it....she is still at it now

Has anyone else had this happen? Is she a chocaholic? Is it no chocolate for the next 6 months for me?

it could just be a growth spurt

i don't think eating a choccie or 2 during a feed can have such an immediate effect

I think it might...my dd who is five goes bonkers if she has chocolate on an empty stomach- she starts chrging around, speaking rubbish, and generally being hyperactive. The effect is pretty quick, within 10 minutes. So, I suppose, if the sugar (or whatever it is in the chocolate, maybe caffeine?)gets into your bloodstream, then into the baby, it could have a similar effect.

I remember that when I was b/feeding, if I ate cabbage, dd would start farting soon after her next feed, and the fart would smell of cabbage!

Chocolate eaten like this won't get anywhere near your milk, daydream....your baby is 12 days old and every day is gonna be different.

Enjoy the chocs

I was just about to start a thread on that wild-eyed thing...both my kids have done it, will see what others say...btw I do eat a lot of chocolate...

I have just asked my mum about this and she reckons it would definitely affect her. She is much better now. I am going to avoid chocolate- not worth the trouble.

The wild eyed thing is definitely something she hasnt done until the roses came out.
