My 11.5mth feeding more now at night than when newborn!!!!!!

She's never had had a dummy or bottles, won't take them at all. Lately she has been feeding 4 or 5 times through the night instead of the usual twice.I am knackered - got 3 other lo's as well. Any ideas why she's feeding so much? By the time we get to 4 in the morning she doesn't feed as much but kind of goes from breast to breast for a few minutes on each. We co-sleep but she starts the night in her own cot and i don't bf her to sleep so i know she can settle herself,just not in the middle of the night. Hence the co-sleeping!!! Can't feel more teeth and she eats solids in the day really well.

When my dd was 11 mos she started going from breast to breast - I took it as a sign she was ready to give up bf, and it turned out to be v easy. I just went out one evening and dh put her to bed. Could you get dh to go to her in the night instead of you? He could offer her a drink from a feeder cup.

He's tried a couple of times but she just gets hysterical. My others just refused when they didn't want breast anymore. Don't understand why she's also feeding more - def still got plenty of milk.

Gosh, Num, difficult one. Don't know what to suggest other than phone nct (google them for number if you don't have their breastfeeding helpline) or other bf organisation. You need some expert help.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

dd is 13 months, went through this kind of thing then suddenly produced 3 teeth out of nowhere and calmed down on the night feeds, she also feed more at night if she has been to busy to drink water in the day (especially when it turns hot or humid)

Really? She doesn't drink much - i always thought demand fed babies took all their drink from you? Obv do offer water but she doesn't ever take much.

i have been offering water from six month, tbh she didnt seem to like to do more than chuck it about for a good while and would prefer to have a few sips from my glass but when it started to get hot this year she seemed to find cool water refreshing and started to quite like to drink from her sippy cup, but i dont think she has ever drunk more than one cupful throughout the day.

i do notice a difference on humid days in how much she feeds a night when she has been playing with her cousin and generally to busy to think of drinking to when she has been alone and will take water when offered.

My dd did this for a while but she calmed down after a while and went back to only waking once

numptysmummy - if you find an answer please let me know as my 10.5 mo has prob a couple of nights a week when it feels as if he's just been feeding all night. He eats well and drinks water and feeds quite a lot during the day, so don't know why. He's def feeding more than ds1 did at his age, as he steadily fed less and less during the night until he dropped night feeds completely and slept through. It's hard to see this ever happening at the moment. Am due back at work beginning of September so would be nice to have it a bit more under control by then.

Have no answers so far. Going to do cc this wk as her sister is away so i can put the travel cot up in her rm. 11mths rm still under constuction . Did't really want to but run out of other ideas. Ds2 night weaned when in was admitted to hospital and he had to go cold turkey. Still doesn't explain the increase in feeding tho
