Nope - 7 days is quite normal in a bf baby! When it does come though......3 nappies and explosive poo in all directions is ALSO normal!!!

Chugnuts · 30/05/2007 15:00

Perfectly normal. At that age dd was going once a week. Very messy when it eventually arrives though.

tortoiseSHELL · 30/05/2007 15:00

Sounds fine as long as they're fine in themselves. Be prepared, the longer they go, the more poo up the back you get!!!!

TheBlonde · 30/05/2007 15:26

Baby seems happy enough, not looking forward to the mess!

DD often goes 4 days without a poo. I read it is normal for breast fed babies to go every nappy change, every 10 days, anything in between, and for the same baby to change between these without any notice!

wildholly · 31/05/2007 00:23

Totally normal! I found when I reintroduced onion and garlic to my diet DS started going more often. Which was a huge relief as he was a social embarrassment when he did decide to poo - no nappy was going to contain 9-10 days worth!!

MrsJohnCusack · 31/05/2007 00:50

mine is 11 weeks and currently saving up for 3/4 days and then letting rip whenever we happen to bo in company

take a spare set of clothing around with you at ALL TIMES is my advice. and yes, perfectly normal

3flightsofstairs · 31/05/2007 02:33

BF babies have less stuff that the baby doesn't need compared to FF and poos can be less frequent as they don't have as much to get out - but yes, be ready for the backlog!
Baby constipated according to medic staff if not pooed for 7(or is it 10?) days. But make sure you're still getting plenty of wet nappies...

pampam · 31/05/2007 09:26

perfectly normal ime. My dd (now almost 1) used to regularly for 7-10 days. As long as baby seems well and you have plenty of wet nappies I wouldn't worry. The poo will be ENORMOUS though so make sure you've got a spare set of clothes whenever you leave the house!

hana · 31/05/2007 09:27

also had this with my babies, normal and nothing to worry about. think her record was 11 days. bit nasty when she eventually did poo

chilledmama · 31/05/2007 09:29

My DS used to have a predicatable poo day every 5-6 days up until I started giving him solids...Poo days are good because you know in advance that they will be slightly uncomfortable (its hard work pushing out 6 days of waste)and that the poo will be enormous/will have several in one day.
I much preferred it to several runny ones each day.

SydneyB · 31/05/2007 09:31

Yep, DD used to do that at that age. Always managed to time poo to arrive whilst in someone else's bouncer chair...hmmm.

TheBlonde · 31/05/2007 14:14

Thanks everyone, she has now done 4 poos. Only 1 escaped the nappy thankfully

Don't think you need my input but my ds had a once-a-week poo for a while. And boy, was it a major event. We usually had to put him in the bath afterwards, not to mention put all his clothes in the washing machine!
