I've just (reluctantly) stopped bfing dd in the day as I will be back at work soon. She was only having one bf during the day when she wakes from her lunchtime nap. Have been offering her formula or cows milk at this time for the past few days but she won't have any of it. I've heard so much conflicting advice about this - should I persevere or will she get enough milk from her 2 remaining bfs (on waking and before bed? I feel so guilty about cutting down the bfs but don't have any choice unfortunately.

you could make sure you give her dairy in other forms (does she have milk with breakfast cereal? yoghurts? etc) - that plus the remianing bfs should be ok

and keep offering cows milk - just put a beaker of milk on the table and one day, you never know!

have you offered both cold and warm milk? my dd1 wnt drink it cold but loves it warmed

and dotn wahtever you do feel guilty

Yes, she has milk in her porridge and plenty of cheese and yoghurt. Will try the warmed up milk - thanks

I have just been through the same with 9 month old DD. I have gone back to work 3 days a week and for those 3 days she just has her morning and evening BF. In the nursery she point blank refuses formula so she just has water when thirsty. I saw a dietician about this and she says DD should get enough calcium from formula in cereal etc.

Good luck.

My lad only drinks rice milk with added calcium.
