I know that sounds strange & I know that it's the best thing for him but my mum was horrified on Tuesday when she found out that's what I intend & tried to talk me into giving up now he's 6 months saying that I've already given him a good start.

I just mumbled something about it still being better for him than formula/cow's milk even after a year but I'd love to be able to give her a proper list of reasons when she asks again (which I'm sure she will).

I've read all the links now, and feel I have my armour ready!

Thanks everyone - this is exactly what I need. I didn't realise the breastfeeding law here in Scotland only applied up to 2 years of age - I'm a little at that. Think I'll have a look at what I can do to try to get this extended or have the age limit removed altogether.

MissGriss - I heard that Ava's teeth had finally started appearing. I'll bet that was a relief! We were winding Jo up saying that she's still been the slowest to get 'em (altho' look at the set of gnashers she's got now lol). Rowan's got about 7 months to get some before he's in danger of beating her record.

p.s. - did you see the photos of Abi's hair? Doesn't it look fantastic? She looks all grown up now!

On a mundane and practical note, if you wean to a bottle at 6 months of age you will just have to go through all the faff again of weaning to a cup at a year. Much better (and less distressing for the baby) to go straight from the breast to the cup.
