When and how did you stop the middle of the night feed?

This is a sleep/ slash feeding issue - so thought I'd start here for advice.

I have a 3 and half month old and she is starting to get into a pattern now.
She sleeps from 7 until 11 in the evening where either she wakes or I wake her for a final feed. Problem is I give her this and she still wakes again once more at some point between from 2 until 5. I have started not giving her milk at this feed only water and she will (eventually) settle. But is this the best way of discouraging this and getting her to sleep through? Someone mentioned sugared water for a week to me the other day. What have people found to work for their LO's??

At 3 and a half months she is most likely waking because she still needs it. What happens if you don't wake her for a feed at 11? I've found with my ds (4.5 months) that once he wakes for a feed he tends to wake again IYSWIM, for example he will often now go til between 3 and 5, feed then til 6/7 but last night woke for a feed at 1 then again at 3.30 etc.

I tanked up at the 11 oclock feed and just gave warmed water at the 3 am feed within 4 days was sleeping through.

I suppose it could be a bit early for this? But I she has seemed fine not having the feed - just the water the last couple of nights (obviously if she started crying a lot I'd give her a milk feed) and I know she has slept for up to 6 hours before.

The other thing I'm trying is to give her hungrier baby formula at the 11. She has only been taking 4 ounces though. I think I need to keep her awake slightly longer to take a bit more.

imo 3 months is FAAAAAAR too young to be dropping feeds.

i dropped dd's night feed at 6 months and in hindsight it was far too young to do so and led to alot of sleep issues and food issues later on.

ds is 10 months next week and some nights goes without and some nights wants loads of feeds. wouldn't stop giving them until he's alot older as i do feel he needs them even now

Bouncyminky, we used hungry baby feed and it was pants, made dd constipated and grumpy. DD is 6m and still has one night feed, think your bayby is too young to try cutting feeds, if they wake up crying at such young age they usually need the milk, so please persevere. I know it can be knackering getting up a few times but in a few months they will sleep through!
