Morning ladies. So we are in day 3 now. Got home from hospital yest with our gorgeous wee womanGrin
This little lady is a very sleepy baby, doesn't seem to have much interest throughout the day on latching onto the boob but will at night time then it's constant for 3 to 4 hours!
We have ended up a few times given her a little top of feed using the pre made bottles, the ones they use in the hospital, just to make sure shes had something.
Now we are home I plan on doing lots ofvskin to skin and boobs out and try to get established.
Have I fucked up by giving from bottle?? Finding it really stressful this time round.
I also have cracked nips too and almost leapt off sofa last night when I tried putting her on. Sad please tell me I'm not the only suffering today!!

Congrates on the baby!!

I just wanted to say someone will be along shortly with some fabulous advice as I can't comment on a lot of it.

One thing is have they checked for TT? Breastfeeding shouldn't be that sore but my daughter was TT and the pain was pretty intense

Good luck!

Oh and can you speak to anyone in real life? Does the council send breastfeeding consultants out?

Aw congrats your lovely new baby girl!

So yes, evening cluster feeding is SO normal. She’s going to feed tons in the early days to get your milk supply up and running. I’d guess it would be in within the next day or so all being well.

Is she having lots of wet and dirty nappies?

Skin to skin is excellent, it will encourage your milk to come in and soothes her as well. So top off as much as you can and snuggle down. Make sure you’re drinking lots and lots (pint of water every hour or so) and eating well as this all helps with milk supply.

Cracked nips - lasinoh cream is fab and you don’t need to take it off between feeds. If really bad, try nipple shields although they can be difficult to wean off of.

Babies tummies are so small at this age that they really don’t need huge amounts, your colostrum is incredibly rich also, so will satisfy them on small amounts. Just keep an eye on her nappy output.

Thanks for replies ladies! Midwife was in earlier. Spent a good hour with me. Much happier now she's been and looked her over. She agreed with top ups and said fine to keep doing it if feel she hasn't fed much.
She's only lost 8% birth weight so mw very happy as thought it might have been higher.
Baby def not as sleepy today and feeding better. Just need my poor nips to heal!
Infant feeding specialist was on ward yest and she checked her palate and for tt which she's not got. Here's hoping it starts to get better from here! God I didn't think it would just as hard this time around!!
