Hi all, I'm a first time mum... my little girl is 10 weeks and so far we've had zero issues, she was born and latched on instantly and has gained weight nicely. She has always fed for about 5-20 minutes with an occasional 40-hour long feed. This issue however came about around a week ago after her first needles... now most feeds are about 5 minutes, maximum of 10 minutes... with the occasional 3 minute feed (this is what worries me). She now no longer cluster feeds and usually goes 2-4 hours in the day and I dream feed her every 4 hours at night. Also in the week I introduced a dummy as I was going insane, she was very unsettled and wouldn't even take boob, the only way she would settle was sucking my finger. Im worried now the dummy is affecting her feed even though many assured me our feeding was established.. Once she's stopped feeding even after changing her swapping boob she pushes away from the breast and eventually becomes distressed if I keep attempting to feed again. She then proceeds to suck her hands and finally settles when I give her the dummy.
I've read multiple stories online about women who's babies feed for only a couple of minutes and as I have a large supply and fast let down I'm not too concerned, but more worried that feeding so little with bigger gaps between..? Have the feeds reduced because she's no longer using me as a dummy? Should I be worried?
Thanks ladies!
