Moving from bottle/teat to non spill cup

Hi
When do you try and move baby from teat to a cup. My ds is 5.5 mo and he can't get the non spill cup to give out any milk. I'm using the avent one but I struggle to get anything out never mind a baby.
Am I too early? Will it confuse him to swap between the cup and breast?

TracyK I spent about a million pounds on different beakers for DS - most of which he couldn't get a drop of liquid out without his eyes sinking to the back of his head. The best one I found was the Tommee Tippee flip top spout cup like this

We tried ds at about the same age and he couldn't get the hang of it. At 6 1/2 months I taught him to drink through a straw. I pinched the idea from someone else, but did it a different way. Put smoothie in a cup, and sucked it up then pinched the end of the straw. Ds put it in his mouth and tasted the smoothie, kind of began to suck, and got the hang of it because it doesn't slide back down as quick as liquid. Now we take an avent bottle of watewr out and about, with the straw kept inside. At home, he glugs from a doidy cup, which is a bit messier, but he picked it up quite quickly.
