Can breast feeding make your periods irregular?

I have been Bf for the last three years ( different babies!) but have been pg or had no AF for most of that time. My AF started again 5 months ago and are still not regular yet. Is this normal? It is caused by the Bf or should I be worried? They were always regular as clockwork before.

yes.

Are you still bfing?
Can take a while to get back into a pattern, but IME they do get back into a cycle.

So nice that you bfed for so long.

Quootiepie · 07/05/2007 20:35

Yep, normal. I stopped BFing about 4 months ago now, and have had 3 weird ones (one I don't think counts) all over the place.

yes I am still bf and don't plan to stop for a while yet. I guess I had assuemd that since they returned at Christmas they woudl be in a pattern by now?????

I probably notice it more as they were SO regular for my whole life

Thnank you Dimpled...sounds better that it was really as babies were so close together.

My first couple were irregular, but have now settled, but I'm down to just 2 feeds a day now (dd nearly 15 months).

Definitely 'anything goes' whilst still bf!

no I think your body just adjusts when and if it is ready
I was a bit worried but the health visitor said everyone is different

my dd does not show any signs of stopping even though I want to
