Does anyone know if AF comes & goes depending on frequency of BFing??

I've been exclusively BFing for 4.5 months. I've had 2 AFs and expected another AF on Monday (so am 4 days late). I did one PG test and it said mildly positive and 3 since were negative. I have stepped up the expressing in the past 3 weeks as DD has started going to a child minder 3 mornings a week. Is it possible that my cycles have stopped again?

our old cat used to attack dp's feet while we were in the act.... very unsettling!

Runninglate · 03/05/2007 22:45

Cats are so rude.

right at the beginning of this you said you did a pg test- and that it was midly posative, then were neagtive. a friend had a nasty time a few years ago, when her periods stopped, for 3 months, then horrible misgarriage-even the doctors dida a pregnancy test and it said negative- she has since found out that a preg test can and will give a false neg, but never a false posative!!!!

whomovedmychocolate · 03/05/2007 22:46

My SiL has three large dogs, apparently one night they ALL jumped on her and her DH and slobbered a lot. Lovely!

PinkTulips · 03/05/2007 22:46

i was still showing negative on tests at 10 weeks with dd (and probably after but i was scanned then to confim preg

whomovedmychocolate · 03/05/2007 22:47

Yes good point, do go to the doctors and get yourself checked out dear. It's poss you got pregnant but it didn't implant you know. Or that you are up the duff and you also have a really daft cat.

Runninglate · 03/05/2007 22:50

At last - someone who is taking this thread seriously. Thank you Wishingmummy . The positive test was a boots own and the three negatives were clearblue digital x 2 and first response x 1. None were first wee of the day ones but up to 4 days late, then I would 't expect that to matter? I would love to PG again even though so soon after DD. I wonder if there was a link between your friend's tests and low HCG levels or something?

OP posts:
Runninglate · 03/05/2007 22:51

oh. would a lack of implantation reflect in the level of detectable HCG levels?

Umm yes, eventually, but what happens (apparently) is you get a small surge then it drops off. Someone posted a bloody great link all about it. Give me a sec. I'll try and find it.

Runninglate · 03/05/2007 22:53

Darn I can't find it and I've got to go to bed because DH is getting ratty and DD will be up wanting milk soon. Suffice to say, it's more likely you are pregnant and the other tests just didn't work because HPT work on the basis of a yes/no is there/is there not a hormone there and you can't be a little bit pregnant.

whomovedmychocolate · 03/05/2007 22:59

Found it www.peeonastick.com

whomovedmychocolate · 03/05/2007 23:01

Runninglate · 03/05/2007 23:01

PinkTulips · 03/05/2007 23:02

yep... well dutch really hbut lived here since i was 8 so honorary irish!

wishingmummy · 03/05/2007 23:05

didn't have low levels or anything, it was just one of those things. even on the trolly in hospital, with waves of pain- which of course turned out to be miscar.,the hosp test said neg, and the doctor on call said she had fibroide which is why i was bleeding so heavily. i felt like such a moron afterwards, not knnowing i was preg. but sometimes it just goes like that. if you think you are, trust yourself- you know your body better than anyone else- wait and see!

whomovedmychocolate · 04/05/2007 08:49

Oh wishingmummy that's horrible for you . I had a missed miscarriage at six weeks and I'd had one pos. test but then two hours later I started to bleed. I cried and cried, then went to the docs and he very unsympathetically said: 'well it's not really a pregnancy unless it gets to ten weeks' .

Runninglate · 04/05/2007 09:15

Oh golly, yes that's awful - for both of you .

Still no AF but woke with mild AF type pains which have since gone away again.

whomovedmychocolate · 04/05/2007 09:59

Implantation pain? Hope so for your sake. Try again with a new test.

yellowrose · 04/05/2007 10:46

"the cats got at them, so there is a remote possibility that they punctured them" - now that is the BEST ever excuse i ever heard for someone getting pregnant ! lol !

Runninglate · 04/05/2007 13:26

...and if I am pregnant, I hope it teaches my DH to shut drawers and cupboard doors in the future. It drives me mad!!

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 04/05/2007 15:56

Personally I'd slam his penis in the drawer a few times to hammer the point home if you have to go through childbirth because he couldn't be arsed to shut the drawer. Then again, I'm kinda mean .

Runninglate · 04/05/2007 22:08

That would certainly work .

STILL no AF.
