Hi all. Has anyone tried fenugreek to increase milk supply and if so what dose did you take?

I took it after midwife advised it and I think it helped a little bit. I took 2 tablets twice a day. Eventually you start to taste a mild curry flavour each time and that's when you know they're working. Good luck

Have you tried using an electronic breast pump? I found that doing it once a day really helped increase my supply.

Witchofthenorth · 26/02/2018 18:35

I used it and found a difference within a week of using it. The only think I didn't like was my sweat smelled of maple syrup for the duration Shock

Made a huge difference for me. Made my boobs fill up with 24 hours or so. I used it when i struggled with supply at the beginning. It does make you smell but it defo works

Jellybabie3 · 27/02/2018 12:36

Sorry i took 1 tablet 610mg

Jellybabie3 · 27/02/2018 12:37

A day!!

I drink fennel tea which is a similar thing. Worked great for my supply at the beginning. Now it's established I only drink it every now and again.

Thank you everyone. I've tried pumping but hadn't really increased my supply. I want to have a emergency batch in the freezer instead of relying on formula, but am not producing enough. I'll try fennel tea as well and continue taking 2 tablets twice a day

Try oats too, as they're meant to help stimulate milk. I tried Fenugreek and it didn't work for me (no difference in supply and never got that smell of maple syrup which is apparently when you know it's working). And make sure to drink plenty of water.

PaddyF0dder · 10/03/2018 04:49

No scientific evidence that fenugreek makes a difference.

arbrighton · 12/03/2018 20:54

No evidence for oats either I'm afraid........

Figgygal · 12/03/2018 20:57

I did I think I was doing max dose of 6 tablets a day didn't make a difference
