HELP!! need recommendations of a new formula for a sicky baby

Well, after keeping my lo on the 'new' SMA gold for a few days, i've decided to try a new formula!!! she's having a BIG sick at least once a day still ... when she was only doing that every few days before.

i'm sure its not reflux as she's only sick whilst burping & very rarely afterwards ... and she's not fussy, not in pain, often seems to think puking all over mummy is a good laugh!!

my health visitor recommended 'cow & gate comfort'? or maybe sma white as it could be a bit thicker? ...

help, i don't know what to try & i don't want to keep changing her milk!!!

xXx

Hello Amanda01, my DD was a little 'sicky' and I found the Cow and Gate number 2, the one for hungry babies - blue container I think worked. I tried the Omneo Comfort also from Cow & Gate and it seemed to make her trump more and be a little more restless. Hope that helps! Smurfs

thanks for that!! do you think SMA white (for hungrier babies) might have the same effect as the cow&gate for hungrier babies? its so hard to say!!

was your dd sick between feeds of whilst burping?

Both mine were breastfed and both were pukers

maybe try a smaller feed more often?

I used Aptimil (the one in the purple box) for hungrier babies when dd1 went onto bottles

I was told that the formulas for hungrier babies were a thicker consistency and thus sat in the stomach for longer before they were aheem...processed! So maybe a thinner consistency would be gentler on the stomach...sorry to make it more confusing!!daughter was usually sick after feeds when burping but it did occur to me that I might be overfeeding her and that was making her sick, so I started to give her little and often feeds rather than great big ones...crank up the steriliser I do remember I whipped through bottles doing it that way! Made a big difference and the being sick stopped after a short period. Got to go to friends for coffee, already half an hour late but will post later if think of anything else! Hang on in there at least it is not colic! Smurfs

My HV recommended C&G comfort, I've read on MN that SMA for hungrier babies can give them tummy ache because it's harder to digest, I think SMA make a staydown milk aswell as a hungry baby milk. We had this problem too and changed to Aptamil which has made a difference - lo only 'possets' now instead of bringing up half the bottle! However, Aptamil brings 2 other disadvantages 1. its more expensive and 2. EXPLODING nappies sometimes its just a full change of outfit for him but twice this week it has been a full change of outfit for me aswell! We've only just changed so I'm not sure if it just due to the change or if it will last. Sorry I'rambled on a bit here but hth!

I've changed to Aptamil from a Canadian formula that used to give her tar black poo, which was also explosive, so I have nothing but love for it. Mine is still sick a lot, but very slightly less - so that could be age, or it could be the formula. Either way, Aptamil hasn't made her more sick.

we changed to hipp organic which made ds reflux much better.

DS was very sicky as well, we eventually found Cow and Gate Comfortable DIgestion. Is very rarely sick now.
