6 month old ds only feeding well from one side?

Well, nearly 6 months. He's always preferred the left breast & altho' I persevere with both he's just totally refused to feed from the right side! Wouldn't even latch on, just grizzled & slapped at me 'til I shifted him over where he guzzled like mad for 5 minutes before conking out.
I'm worried that him consistently refusing to feed will totally diminish the supply in that breast - can this happen? Also I got him weighed yesterday & he'd lost weight again (5oz in 2 weeks). He lost 4.5oz between 14 & 18 weeks too so the HV suggested I put him onto solids & he now gets 3 single course meals a day & as much booby as he wants.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to encourage him to feed well off both sides?

No advice because I have the same problem, Ds is now 9 months and only feeds from the left side and has been since around 6 months

He too lost weight, dropped from the 50th to the 2nd was sent to paediatrician blah blah blah, nothing wrong and he now follows his own curve on the 2nd centile

I haven't had to try this but I've heard if you try the rugby ball hold it can help ( ie under your arm, legs pointing backwards) - baby is then facing in the direction they're used to (if that makes sense!) and are tricked into thinking they're on the preffered side!
I think babies often prefer the left side because it's closer to your heart and they can hear it.

no advice really, but my sister's baby did the sasme thing, favoured one side and eventually she only fed from this one side - didn't cause any problems in terms of weight gain, and the supply sorted itself out

Thanks folks - it's good to know I'm not alone lol.

usandnosleep - I never thought of the rugby ball hold. That sounds like a great idea so I'm gonna give it a try next feed.
