100% breastfed but now waking during night at 14weeks after previously sleeping through should I give formula?

My dd slept from her 10.30 feed through the night from about 8 weeks but has just taking to waking around 3-5am for a feed. She has an expressed bottle at 10.30 I express about 100ml 3-4 floz. During the day she seems happy on her usual feeding pattern

Is this a growth spurt? Should I introudce a formula top up?

growth spurt imo

I would just give her another b/f at whatever time she wakes up

both of mine woke up for feeds until maybe 6 months or so (trying to remember back)

dd2 for about a year iirc

introduce formula if you wish, but it won't make her sleep through/any longer and could mess up your supply

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 09:28

formula makes no difference to sleeping imo

Sounds like a growth spurt to me too. In which case, I think you are supposed to keep offering breast milk as her increased demand will increase your supply.

Feed her as often as need be, sounds like the 3mth growth spurt Should settle down again in a week or so.

Do you think that she will return to sleeping through and I should just feed when she wakes up for the time being?

Should do, I think for the first 6mths at least the sleeping pattern is not fixed regardless of whether you FF/BF or start weaning. You have done well so far to have her sleeping through... I'm envious

Keep feeding her for the time being if she needs it. Another factor is that it is a bit warmer now, my DD used to wake for an extra feed when it was warm as she got thirsty.
