My ds is nearly 8 months old. He was fully breastfed up until about 2 weeks ago and had made the transition to formula perfectly happily and was having 4 bottles a day. He now won't drink any milk whatsoever and refuses his bottle point blank. Anyone else had this happen to them? What did you do? He loves his solids and is on three good meals a day so he is obv. not going to starve but keep remember the hv going on about how they need a pint of milk a day. Help please!

how do you feed, do you offer milk first or solids? Maybe lo is too full from soilds to take any milk on board??

Oh I remember the pint a day guilt I felt when ds was about 9 months. Like your ds, he was on 3 good meals and never really bothered about his milk (he was ff from around 3 days).

Remember that its only an average, there will always be babies that drink more and always those that drink less.

Also, count the milk you use in cooking and that on cereal.

You cant force it, no matter how many ways round you try to fool them into drinking more .

Occaisionally if we had a really bad day I would mix some with cereal for supper.

If you are otherwise giving a healthy varied diet dont worry too much.

In the past I always offered milk first. I have tried milk before, during and after solids to no avail. He won't even drink his milk after a 13 hour sleep when you think he would be so thirsty

Its always easier when you look back at it, but very difficult sometimes when you're living it.

Hi,
My eight-month- old girl is exactly rhe same. She refuses the bottle now. She has always happily FF since she was born. She eats very well though. I really have to struggle to get in a few ounces of FF. I manage to sneak in a bottle when she is tired, like before falling asleep or when she's really drowsy on waking. But that's it.
She is very healthy though. I've bought her one of those flexi-cups from Tommee Tippe and she likes that occasionally, but only if there's water in it.
It ain't easy...
