Starting expressing for first time

Just wondering if there are any tips? I Want to express to feed my DS who is almost 12 weeks for the first time maybe a frequency of every other day with expressed milk in a bottle. Not sure how many days before I need to start? express after he has fed or before ? How much would you Store in the fridge if you are only planning on giving expressed now and again? I have no idea !

I am no expert but I express just after DS has fed, I have found first thing in the morning best. To start I only got about 2oz at a time but now can get 6 or 7 oz. I get a bit more if I express at the same time as DS feeds but end up making so much mess I have decided to do one thing at a time! Usually DH gives a bottle 2 evenings on, one off and on the off day I pop it in the freezer in readiness for an evening away! NHS guidelines are that it can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days I believe but my pump attaches directly to the bottle so I only ever have one bottle in the fridge at one time.

It's also important I think to get a good pump. I personally used the Medela Harmony on hire directly from them. There are many pumps available so worth doing a bit of research as to what would work for you. Agree with pp, NHS had good info with regards to storage, also have a look at Kelly moms website.
