Extended breastfeeding whilst pregnant - pain

I'm still feeding my 18 month old morning and night. As 12 weeks pregnant and it really hurts. I don't know whether it's my breasts that have changed - they don't feel particularly tender. Or whether DS has got lazy with his latch as it feels as though he is now biting me as he feeds and I spend the whole time grimacing.

I have generally fed him laying down once he got older and this used to work for us. I'm not sure what to do now. I was hoping he would decide himself that he no longer wanted boob but he seems keen as ever, I'm having to cut short his feeds though as it's just too painful for me.

Any advice? 🙁

I BF'ed my DS1 when pregnant with DS2 until I was around 5 months pregnant (he was then ca 23 months old), and I never experienced any pain or discomfort due to the pregnancy. If it feels like he is biting it definitely sounds like he is being lazy with his latch or using you as a teether/pacifier?

At some point in pregnancy he may well lose interest as the milk changes, but this may not be until later on (mine self-weaned BTW).

My tip for now would be to take him off the boob as soon as it happens and say No, that hurts - or "No biting" or something to that effect?

Unless you plan on tandem feeding I would try to wean him a few months before baby is born, so that he doesn't associate the baby with him losing his milk. If you're happy to give it a couple more months (obviously only if he can do it without hurting you!) he may well self-wean anyway.

I too found breastfeeding in pregnancy pretty awful. Sore and just yucky. Sorry.
I weaned (gently) during pregnancy both times as I just couldn't carry on. Apparently it gets better after the first trimester...

I had similar, and I'm still unsure why. I kept going and weaned at around 34weeks, the pain did settle down.
I think it can be painful to feed while pregnant but never figured out if this was the case for me,
