Breastfeeding and periods???

I'm still breastfeeding my 8 month old four times a day (not sure if much is coming out though!!), and have just started my period!!! Is this normal? I kind of hoped I'd be off the hook for much longer!

That is great. I was breastfeeding exclusively on demand and they returned at 6 weeks

Mine came back 4/5 weeks after all 3 bf babies.

Yea mine returned at 5 -6 weeks with both babies . ( demand feeding )

i would think that's about normal time for return of period BUT everyones different of course . i got mastitus @ the same time as first period doubley unfair

dd is a year old on monday and mine has only returned today - and boy is it horrible? had forgotten how it makes me feel like a spotty pile of shite and the cramps are hellish. Oh well, guess I'm lucky to have got this far but there have to be some perks to BF 8 times a day!

?! Think yourself lucky! Mine returned after 8 weeks.

Good to hear all of this as I have just come back on after 8 weeks while BF and worried that it indicated that I was not breast feeding enough (have a baby that is slow to gain weight).

still no sign at 16 months

mine came back when ds was 15m. gutted to be spotty again!

after my first i got preg at 9 month postpartum, no periods.

after my second my periods returned at 12 months

ny third is 13 months this week and still no sign.

It seems in my case to be directly proportional to how often they feed, specifically at night.

Mine returned at 9 months (was still exclusively BF) and then bingo, got PG instantly.

Mine seem to come back at 6 months.

Directly coincides with when they start going longer/through at night.

Took me ages to get pg though - started trying when DD1 was 9 months, periods were back and regular. Didn't get pg until weaned DD1 @ 14 months - bosh pg later the same month.
