follow-on milk - mixing with 1st stage?

I've read the posts about not bothering with follow-on milk, so I think my question may have been answered already, but I;d be interested in what people think anyway, so here goes.
DS been happily on his 1st stage formula (as well as boob), but when i started him on his follow-on milk (6 months), he always pukes up loads after each feed.
then someone here (I live in Spain) told me you can;t change straight from stage one to stage two overnight, cos it;s to sdifferent, richm, heavy on their stomachs etc - that you have to do it gradually, increasing the amount of two bit by bit, using eg 5 scoops of one with 1 scoop of two for 3/4 days, then 4 scoops of one with 2 scoops of two etc. sounds logical enough, but does;nt say it on the tin, so to speak.
anyway, i tried that yesterday and the poor little thing still puked up loads. wasn't sure whether to stick with that mix till he gets used to it, or jsut go onto 2 only.
now I think after reading on here, maybe just stick with one, which he;'s fine with.
any input much appreciated

Stick with one. I don't know what's up with the puking, it would worry me more than a bit, but definately stick with one.

there is absolutely no need for follow on milk, ever - at tleast that's the advice in the UK.
