Anyones lo had thrush w/o the white plaques in the mouth

Copied this from my other thread, so that the title was more descriptive of where I am.

went to gp today to discuss if Ds (4 m.o.) migh have a sore mouth.

a bit of a waste of time

"no white plaque in mouth mean no thrush"

"why woiuld you treat him with antifungal? wouldn't sntibiotics be first choice?"

"why don't you get him weighed more often? Really the hvs are the ones to talk to about feeding troubles. they've had the training and they know all about it!" (?!)

"his feeding patterns [feeding more frequently; fussing; ends every feed crying; seems hungry; not sleeping great] aren't really relevant when it comes to deciding if we need to investigate further... now if we only had the weight..."

"Lots of reasons for breast pain. your shooting pains and pins and needles in the nipple don't mean anything. thrush is a red cracked nipple. If you want to talk about your health perhaps you shouldmake another appointment"

Appreciate any personal experiences anyone has like me - i've read kellymom.

I have a thread about nipple pain and am sure someone said their baby had no white patches.

I spoke to a midwife today about thrush and that gp knows nothing. a bit like my one.

luvkily you can buy all the stuff the bfn recommend over the counter. it would just be cheaper on free prescription

yellowrose - with a view of 'being able to tell if we're on the right track' how long did it take for symptoms to noticeably improve? bfn leaflet suggest 2-3 days - was it like that for you?

I'm planning: daktarin 4 times a day on babe; same on me (cream not gel); homeopathic stuff for both of us; probiotic for both of us; low carb diet to avoid 'feeding tthe yeast'.

Did you need to use fluconazole? A little reluctant since this seems quite a big gun for an unproven diagnosis.
