bf dd2 4.5 months - really nasty blister on nipple - any advice?

breastfeeding dd2 who's 4 and a half months and have suddenly got a really nasty blister on my right nipple. have had a couple of blisters when starting bfeeding with dd1 & 2, always just 'fed through them' and they went away. This one seems to ahve appeared out of nowhere and doesn't seem to want to disappear. In fact it's getting worse. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get rid of it??? Thanks in advance.

Lasinoh nipple cream - really good when I had cracked sore nipples. Am sure it would soothe blister....

Sudocrem works pretty well if you can get a couple of hours off on one side. Also you might want to try cooling the area (I have some gel pads called mothers mates which you wang in the fridge and they make it feel better and heal quicker).

Incidentally I found my sore nips healed quicker once I flung away those flipping Avent Breast pads (grrr they blocked my washing machine and stuck to my nipples and replaced them with (wait for it.....) real nappy liners (v soft towelling and they don't show up under your tops too!

have been using the cold pad things for abit of numbing relief.
recently got rid of breastpads altogether as I'm not leaking at all now (was using Avent too) and I was wondering whether a bit more padding could help ... maybe I should try the nappy liners. No idea where I'd find them though!!

Is it a milk blister? This is a link to Kellymom.com about milk blisters, but it also tells you about friction blisters too. HTH

thanks mawbroon, I think maybe it is a milk blister after reading that. It was white and has now gone yellow. Having said that, it's a lot less painful than yesterday so fingers crossed it's on its way out now!

mmm, the stringy milk bit made me gag too!!

Sorry, it is a bit yukky isn't it. Perhaps I should have put a warning on!
I hope you are right about it being on the way out nownearly.
