Any advice on getting stubborn 9mo to take milk from cup/bottle?

Going back to work early April and having no joy with formula. But pretty sure it's not the stuff in the cup that's a problem cos she'll have a slurp or two; other times screams at mere approach of any receptacle. V. willing to try different milk, cups, bottles, teats etc. but nothing seems to help. Am wondering if we made a rod for our backs giving up on bottle feeds (BM that time) when she was smaller cos it was such a battle. Any ideas?

Hi, I can imagine the nightmare you are having! The only thing I can think of which may help is a seringe especially for feeding liquids available from your GP's surgery/outpatients etc. I gave my son formula using this as a "top up" when I was breast feeding and this helped us a great deal. You may even be able to gently force feed with one until baby gets used to it? It's got to be worth a try, I got these given for free! My son also had terrible colic, if you do experience this problem I can recommend B-Free bottles (formerly called Dr Brown's). From screaming for 2 hours every night to a peaceful angel in 1 week, I would have happily paid £100 each for them! (they are about £6 each but worth every single penny). Good luck xx

Horts2 hope you manage it having same problem with ds3. He's 5mths and I returned to work on Monday. only work Monday and friday from 1 to 5.30pm in this time he had nothing waited for me to come home. work 09.30 to 5.30 on Wednesday left mil with food and formula and juice. he has the juice but hated the bottle only takes thin neck bottle with latex brown teats. Refused solids, refused milk only had juice so went all day without - employer allowed me to have expressing breaks but only managed a poor 2.5oz all day and when I got home he feed every 5 minutes wouldn't sleep and I had to get him to have 1oz formula at 01.00 so he would sleep but he brought that back up. really worried going to try different milks for wednesday and get mil to bring him to work so I can actual bf in my lunch hour else he'll waste away. Never had problem with 2 dd's he's being a nightmare

Thanks both for supportive messages, esp. CGOmum, sounds like you are having a terrible time. Hope it's got better - wish I could report I've cracked it but perhaps we are getting there. We've advanced from crying at the sight of the cup through taking a slurp and making totally disgusted face to taking a slurp. Cut out b/feeds so just hope she's getting enough...
