I am all and at the same time...

The last week or so we have been down to one feed a day (mornings before we get up) - he hasn't been asking for it, I have just been attaching him, having a 5 min feed or so then coming off... I wanted to get to 12 months though!!

I am a bit because I think he might be my last baby, but also happy because my body can settle down.

Dunno why I'm writing... just felt the need!!

I remember the feeling when I stopped BF my DD. I let myself feel sad for a day or so, but then it wore off...and I had a few glasses of wine and went away for the weekend!

Well done for BFing for as long as you have.

on the wine now Hence the post probably

Wish I could go away though!!!

i know how that "last feed " thing feels specially if your last baby..... sad

Astrophe · 25/02/2007 23:36

Can you organise a weekend away with some girl friends?

luciemule · 25/02/2007 23:37

I just wanted to say I really feel for you and experienced exactly the same feelings with my DS (2). He only stopped November 06 so I'd fed him for almost 2 years. I too think he might be the last but at the end he was only really sucking and not a lot was coming out. It was a euphoric feeling at the same time as extremely sad. I think it's good you posted and the fact you have, probably means you know yourself that you've finished - rather than me telling everyone not to mention it to me as I couldn't face giving up (even though he obviously wasn't bothered!).
Don't worry you'll both move on and in a month or so, you'll have fond memories but not be upset anymore.

maximummummy · 25/02/2007 23:38

yes i agree well done for br.feeding as long as you have

Thanks for the well dones Only managed 12 weeks with DD, but it was so easy this time - he is now on one or two bottles during the night (cows milk) and that is all he wants.

He's not the little baby that I am all nostalgic about feeding anyway now - he squirms and pinches!!

After all that - took him in bed with me about 6am this morning, fell asleep... woke to find he'd found his way into my pjs and was attached, gulping for all he was worth!!!

glad i read this been really feeling low about feeding my 8 mnth baby she is now feeding nearly every hour again and i have tried giving her a bottle and she wont have it. Then i thought to myself, it will be sad when she stops it is nice really and dosed a bit while she fed to be suddenly struck by a bite on the nipple again, back to wishing shed cut it out.

MyNamesNotFLAMEItsRodney · 26/02/2007 21:48

Its nice to know he will let me know when he still wants to!

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 26/02/2007 21:52

"woke to find he'd found his way into my pjs and was attached, gulping for all he was worth!!! "

Awwww... that is just so cute

Just realised that he hasn't had a feed today (he had bumped himself back up to 2 feeds a day since last Sunday) - last feed was first thing Friday morning.

It feels right this time - maybe that last week was the decider.
