hi gomez, sorry you've had such a rubbish night
glad things are better tho' - as for sleepy babe, my first was like that. I found changing her before a feed helped wake her, plus undoing her sleepsuit and tickling her feet. sorry for typing, am one handed! hope tonight is better, will think of you at one, three, five am when i'm up too!

Gomez, where in Scotland are you? If you're in Edinburgh area there's a BF clinic at the New royal on Tuesday at 12-4...go to the maternity bit. Are you still having a nightmare? Engorgement is very sore and my thoughts are with you! Make sure your bra is not digging in or too tight. Bring the baby to the breast lots, use lansinoh cream for your nipples (no need to wash off)...from boots, and most importantly make sure the little blighter is latched proper ie, baby facing you with no twisting of the body, nipple facing the nose so he/she has to extend neck up to get nipple (like downing a pint) and has a wide open mouth. If on proper, the cheeks will be full, hardly any brown bit of you areola showing and long sucks with swallowing sounds...
You may also need to ahnd express a little to soften the nipple area (use warmth like warm water or face cloth to help start) and cold compresses in between feeds. Hope some of this helps...but the most important thing is to let the baby feed frequently to ease the pressure...Good Luck

Gomez, how are things?

Thanks again for all your advice - all has settled down and we are both doing well. She is feeding all the bl**dy time (was I really looking for advice on waking her up to feed just a few days ago ) now, no possibility of engorgement adopting the 'spaniels lugs' look as opposed to 'melons' as my DH so kindly put it!

Cheers
