8 month old not interested in breastfeeding

DD, who is just 8 months, is now on 3 bfs and 3 meals a day. She is a devil to breastfeed and seems completely disinterested in it - when I dropped a feed recently she didn't turn a hair (I was fed up of fighting with her 4 times a day). I've tried decreasing solids to make her take more milk, but to no avail. Her hatred of the boob seems to increase when she is teething, which is frequently at present. Is anyone else in the same boat? Did your dc fall back in love with the boob? At present I feel like I'm torturing her at each feed, but must continue as she is hopeless at drinking from a cup and won't take a bottle.

Babys often go on Nursing strikes when teething...as it just hurts to much!
Just offer her the boob and if she takes it fine and if not then, not a problem...your supply will be able to adjust to that, and once she is more interested again, she will up your supply soon enough

Is she really interested in what's going on around her? What happens if you try to feed lying down or in a darkened room (i.e. no distractions)?

Thanks for the speedy replies! Re: the darkened room - we've been in one since she was 10 weeks old! She is VERY distractable and will even find things to look at in the dark room whilst feeding. I guess its teeth and I just have to ride it out - was simply worried that she won't get enough fluids.

you can get Nursing necklaces...you find them if you google, that can help with distracted lil once...maybe worth a try!

Hmmm... have you had a look at Kellymom? This may be of some help.
