what's this red mark on my boob?

i'm bf my 2 week old dd and today have developed a hot red patch on one breast. there's no lump though and it doesn't really hurt, just itches a bit. any idea what this is - i thought there was always a hard lump with mastitis, but would rather get it sorted out quick if thats what it is before it gets too bad iykwim!
just wondering if anyone else has ever had this and what it could be, not sure if it's worth bothering the gp with or not?

would see the gp - could be mastitis . in the mean time feed as much as possible from that side and use more than one position. I used the 'rugby ball' type position alternatively with the normal cradle type to shift mine.

Yes - do go to your GP. LIkely to be mastitis - but my experience is the sooner you know this and take action the better . Good luck
