Hurrah!

As dd2 is now just coming up for a year, and the twice-daily encounters with my trusty Lactaline have become increasingly unproductive, I've decided that's it; on the days she's with me she gets b/fed mid-morning, and on the four days she's at her childminder she gets organic cow's milk. Tried a mixture of expressed/cow's milks on Thursday (she's had cow's milk on her cereal for months anyway) and apparently she slugged it down like Nicolas Cage swigging vodka in Leaving Las Vegas, so no worries there. And I'm quite heady with the thought of giving up those two half-hour sessions...might even start cooking the dinner in advance again.

Thank you, seriously, to everyone who's been so incredibly supportive while I wibbled and wurbled and worried about expressing. Especially Mears, Pidge and Aloha. I'm very very glad I stuck with it. And, of course, it enabled me to test 11 breast pumps over the course of two weeks, which was obviously one of the high points of my maternal and professional career.

You go girl! And well done for feeding her so long

Pidge · 14/06/2004 13:00

motherinferior - you're a superstar for doing this for your dd. I remember clearly the enormous relief I felt when I finally put that pump away. Enjoy that extra hour a day when you're not pumping!

Good for you MI,
I know it is a big decision to make, You have been a stalwart milker and now you can roam free in the pasture and not be tethered to the pumps anylonger.

How things btw, ? long time no chat

Marina · 14/06/2004 15:03

You lucky woman! I'm counting the days to August 5th and then I think I will take a nail file to my battered old Medela...
A fab achievement, well done you.

Oh No! What will keep the gasmen amused when they come to mend your boiler?

Kaz33 · 14/06/2004 15:39

Well done MI for a year of breastmilk

I feel I know you and DD2 - have a great birthday party. I just bought DS2 his first pair of shoes on Saturday !

Well done motherinferior - who would have thought you would have lasted this long . Glad you found support from us useful (and not as nagging).
Can't believe how quickly the year has passed. You are a star

Oooh, thanks everyone - been offline as computer packed up! Yes, it's sooo liberating - I'm going to go on with breastfeeding, actually, but oh the joy of no more pumping!
