What does everyone think of this ?

Have you tried it?
Have you seen/heard of it before?
Do you think it is a practical idea?

Is it something you would recommend?, i am due my 2nd baby end march and was thinking of buying one but for some reason feel quite unsure of it because of the ?Breast Shelf?! I think this could possible cause friction on the breast which could lead to problems..

Never heard of it, but did you see the women in many of the pics are actually cradling their babies as well as resting them on this thing?

Really don't waste your money - use your arms.

you know, i did actually notice that hunkermonker.. perhaps it is because i was just thinking of using it in bed for night feeds. I do have to agree that for all the other positions it does look pointless.

I just used to wedge a firmish pillow behind DS2 for night feeds - just behind his back. I'd do that if I was you.

It seems some people just want to make money out of bfeeding when there's no need - I can't imagine this works for all size babies (how can it be osteopathically correct for every size of baby, for instance) or all size of boob.

I agree with Hunker, I think it's wank.

If you can't use your arms for breast-feeding, ordinary pillows would be easier to use, less cumbersome, and certainly less expensive than this.

If you are like me, you get this desperate urge to buy baby things when pg, this will fill that urge temporarily but no good for anything else.

Use pillows, if you have some spare cash maybe a v shaped one, when sitting up. When lying down you dont need anything.

It says suitable to 8 months! There is no way my dd would let herself be put in that, and when she was born (may) it was so hot i couldnt have anything touching her, so in summer it could be dangerous as baby could overheat

Don't like it at all to be honest. I think it could be too restictive. Nature gave us arms and pillows for a reason

It looks a bit freaky and not particularly useful for feeding apart from lying down

I used the brest friend pillow from expressyourselfmums.co.uk (not cheap either)
I didn't get on with normal pillows as they always shifted when I moved

Sorry but am PMSL at the table top feeding...with toddlers about DD would have got splattered with food, and where are you supposed to put your plate? At least if she was on my lap I could sit sideways and still eat while feeding!

I have heard of the My Brest Friend pillow, actually the company i worship sells them! but didnt ever use any pillow last time. Was just looking for something for nighttime feeds for this time... but think i will now just use normal pillows! It is good to see what everyone else thinks..

hi determination - were you uncomfortable feeding lying down before ? just wondering if that is what is why you are looking at these things. i totally sympathise if you were uncomfortable before, i had terrible pelvic pain for months after ds was born, but actually found lying down to feed more comfortable than sitting as it put less pressure on my pelvis.

if you are worried about baby rolling off or going under the duvet, etc, a very good "gadget" is a side cot that kind of attaches to your bed, so you can bf in the night and then put baby gently back into the cot once she has fallen asleep. i have no idea where you buy one though, i just had a normal cot (one side collapses) right next to my bed, side by side, and lifted ds in and and out of it - i was never more than just a few centimeters away from him, but i slept better because i was less worried about him falling off the bed or me falling on top of him ! some people manage to sleep really well with baby between them, but i was too scared to move this way and and a total paranoid insomniac when i worry so never got any decent sleep.

most mums i know do manage to sleep well when they co-sleep though. i think i am the odd one out !

Yellow Rose,

I Haemorrhaged quite badly last time and was extremely tired for a long time until my Hb got back to normal, so liked to BFed whilst lying down so i could properly rest too, but, i found i quite difficult. I have been told that i will likely haemorrhage again this time although my 3rd Stage of delivery will be actively managed so it should not be as bad. But i just worry about nursing whilst lying down again and dont want to be uncomfortable with it.

oh, i am sorry determination - i hope that you will find it easier this time. i found it helpful when i lay down to have dh help me with putting pillows under my arm/head and behind ds back. that might help you to get more comfy

I went to a b/f counsellor on Friday and she suggested, if you were to b/f lying down to feed from the top boob (although she may have said that because I am top heavy)

I haven't tried b/f lying down with dd2 but did occasionally with dd1 (with bottom boob) when too tired to sit up

Also she suggested putting a rolled up muslin square underneath the breast to "perk" it up a bit - again probably a suggestion for people with saggy boobs

i have been able to bf lying down with BOTH boobs without ever having to change position (i.e top and bottom boob lying on my side) which must tell you something about the size and unbelievable flexibility/sagginess of my boobs (size 38 DD) - suits a lard arse like me just fine as it means i don't have to move much

determination - i have been reading something in LLL magazine today about "biological nurturing" - a bf expert (a midwife with a PhD of some sort) called Colson suggests lying down on your back and putting baby face down on you boobs to feed. i did this a few times when my let down was too strong as this position obviously slows down the let down so the milk doesn't pour into baby's mouth

i will look up some stuff on the other positions she suggest they look like they may make feeding lying down a bit easier - i will post when i find it
