Stopping BF, no feeding routine!

So I want to cut down BFing my 6 month old, with my return to work in a few months. I know the advice is to drop a feed at a time BUT we have no real routine - he generally feeds little and often and wake/bed times are variable (it works for us with a 3 year old to look after too!). So, how do I do it?! He usually has a bedtime feed about 6pm, so I will start giving a bottle for that feed, but no idea about the rest! I seem to get very full lumpy breasts very quickly and seem prone to blocked ducts / mastitis so quite nervous about this!

Or I could introduce daytime bottles at set times (gradually) and presumably he will want to breastfeed less and my body will adjust? Or hope it naturally reduces as we start solids? Or introduce a feeding routine now?? Maybe I am over thinking it!

I understand you'd be nervous, I'm prone to mastitis too. It's horrible and not to be messed with. In this case, I'd only change one thing at a time and see how it goes. Logically, the first thing would be seeing how he reacts on solids, imo. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll stick with the bedtime bottle only and see how solids goes for a few weeks then go from there
