What antihistamine is safe to take whilst breastfeeding?

I have just been diagnosed with an allergic reaction rash and the doctor has prescribed Desloratadine (Neoclarityn). I didnt think to mention I was still breastfeeding, but when looking through the contraindications, it says not recommended to be taken when breastfeeding.

Is there any type of antihistamine anyone has taken (for hayfever/allergies etc) which is safe to take when breastfeeding, which I can buy over the counter?

I was given Piriton whilst in hospital after dd was born - I was assured it was fine to use when breast-feeding.

If you can find a pharmacy open tomorrow, pop in and have a word. Sometimes these warnings are backside-covering rather than because they can cause problems, and the pharmacist may be able to advise whether it's OK or not. Otherwise can you call the GP on Monday and ask?

Hi yes I was told by gp that piriton is safe to take whilst pregnant (but to abstain for as long as possible) & breastfeeding and I've been given that info for 3 different pregnancies etc.
