Please help! My nearly 3 year old will only eat jam sandwiches, toast and wheatabix with banana for meals with us. He eats snack (fruit, crisps, biscuits etc) and he will literally eat any hot meal I give him for at his childminder, it's with anyone else he is a problem. I really don't know what to do, I have tried no snack, tv, no tv, ipad, no ipad, feeding him, letting him feed himself, no replacement meal but he just goes crazy and refuses it. Any suggestions? We have tried the hv who couldn't help. Argh!

It is a battle of wills and not food. Stop discussing it. Serve the meal and just take away if he doesn't eat it. Don't serve snacks or alternatives. If he says he is hungry, say in a bland, bored, tone 'well you would be, you didn't eat your tea'.
He won't starve. Let him serve himself as much as possible so that he isn't over faced.
It may take a few days to realise that he needs to eat when it is offered.
(It is much harder when it is your own child because you are bothered and he knows it.)

You'd get a better range of replies in a different folder, Louey - this one only focusses on babies.

Having said that, Mehitabel is right that making a Big Fuss exacerbates the situatiosn.
