Hi. I have a 3 month old boy who drinks between 3-4ounces of formula milk every 2 hours! I have tried to stretch out the time, but he gets upset, and will only drink a little at time.Is this normal.

yep - was for my DS - he was a little and often baby ... he would go nuts if i tried to make him go longer so it just wasn't worth it. He will change over time ... just try to roll with it if you can.

Try a dummy..he shouldn't need to eat every 2 hours at 3 months, and may get indigestion if he does. DD was like this and I got terrible backache from trying to feed her all the time and she got very bad wind, but a dummy helped

I agree with Taylormama, my DD would only go about 2 hours at that age too. She is now 5 mths and can last 3 hours, on the odd occasion 4 hours.

go with the flow. Babies are all different and if you ds needs to be fed little and often then go with it. Mine was the same and bf. he grew out of it when he was ready. there is no point stressing him and you by trying to string it out to leave a longer time between feeds. its that old adage again, watch the baby not the clock.

good luck :O)

IF HE IS HUNGRY......FEED HIM ! oops sorry for shouting !!! babies need to eat whenever they need to eat and 12 weeks is far too early to expect any sort of set routine..

some babies like little and often, some like a lot and often..you know what your baby needs x

At 12 weeks DD was drinking 6oz every 2 and 1/2 hours. Sometimes she'd stretch to 3 but she slept through the night (12 hours) so basically needed to feed that often. Would your DS drink more? But take his lead. I found I had to change the teat flow at 3 months.

dd did this 34 years ago! She's always been a fussy eater
